Studio Dickey is a public art and urban design practice founded by Rachel Dickey, an Associate Professor of Architecture at University of North Carolina Charlotte. The practice uniquely consists of students and professionals collaboratively working on the design and production of creative works. With each project we show a commitment to innovation through use of the most leading edge technologies and fabrication methods. We gain inspiration from concepts informed by cultural, technological and social dimensions and the belief that art and design in their contemporary manifestation can create meaningful experiences to a large and diverse audience.
The office’s built work had involved various clients including Angels Gate Cultural Center in Los Angeles, Office for the Arts at Harvard, Des Cours in New Orleans, the Museum of Design in Atlanta, Nine Dot Arts in Denver, Charlotte City Center Partners, Charlotte Mecklenburg County, Charlotte Arts and Science Council, and Rock Hill Economic and Urban Development. The work has been recognized in various media including Architectural Review, Architect Magazine, the Charlotte Observer, Carolina News Today, and has been published in journals and books by MIT Press and Princeton Architectural Press.
